Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL is the massive brawler video game that boasts cartoon supremacy in the fighting genre, developed by Papaya Studio. This game features all the stars from the well loved Cartoon Network shows, spanning characters from the 80s and 90s as well as more modern ones, meaning there are familiar faces for Cartoon Network fans of all ages.
Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL has an impressive roster of twenty-six playable Cartoon Network characters, ranging from and including Ben 10, Samurai Jack, Johnny Bravo, The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, and more. Players will get to duke it out with their favourite characters in familiar iconic battle arena locations, such as Mandark's Laboratory from Dexter's Laboratory, Mount Fondoom from Chowder, and Candied Island from The Marvelous Misadventures Of Flapjack, to name but a few.
The plot revolves around all of the characters worlds and their shows getting horribly mixed up due to a dimensional disturbance, and finding themselves in unknown territory to them; the universe of another character. Their worlds are starting to be erased and disintegrated, and you will encounter many corrupted versions of your favourite characters. It's up to you to save the Cartoon Network world as you know it. As you play throughout this unique and fantastically fun story mode, you will unlock characters as you go.
Single player is based upon the traditional side-scrolling platformer, where you will jump over bottomless pits, beat up bad guys, and more. When it comes to combat, each character has four signature attacks, as well as their own unique Punch Time Explosion move; this allows them to transform and gain a super power that will easily wipe out any opponent. Each world you play through also has a variety of mini-games to take part in and enjoy, should the world itself not quench your thirst for cartoon-based madness. When it comes to multiplayer, there are a wide variety of options and battle modes, as well as a unique new story mode for co-op gameplay, which can be enjoyed by up to four players at one time.
