Yakuza Gore
3 story movie J -Sploitation of Japanese gansta, through 3 time periods. Visually interesting and like many of his other films inspired by research in ancient Japanese torture rituals by writer and director Teruo Ishii. Always difficult to review Japanese films due to studio and political constraints of the the time. Style over substance with graphic blood and torture scenes and plenty of over the top gore lending a comic book manga feel. Action and drama often seem stagey and theatrical and unreal with pretty flimsy plot and story. Probably for film historians or gore hounds.
