Moving away from the family comedies and musicals that had made him famous, Drive a Crooked Road finds a Mickey Rooney (National Velvet) as a girl-shy mechanic and racing driver.
When a beautiful customer flirts with Eddie Shannon, the lonely mechanic can't believe his luck - even more so when she appears interested in his hobby of motor racing. She offers him the chance to make enough money to pursue his dream full time... as the getaway driver in a bank heist.
Directed by Richard Quine (Pushover), and co-scripted by Blake Edwards (Experiment in Terror), this classic film noir also features Dianne Foster (Gideon's Day) and Kevin McCarthy (Buffalo Bill and the Indians).
