As Good As Classic Doctor Who Will Ever Look
Firstly the picture quality and one has to understand that the upscale to 1080p was taken from the best source elements available,is there a dramatic improvement in quality..well yes and no,to be honest the BBC have done a grand job upscaling this collection, close up shots look exellent and I suggest if you have HDR to use it as it will bring more colour out from the image but I doubt you will ever see Doctor Who look as good as far as the classic series goes. The Real treat here is the new 5.1 track which truely takes the original mono track and throws it all around your sound stage with dialog frimly centred, the opening classic theme is a treat in 5.1 and the new bonus extras are including a wonderful sit down interview with Tom Baker worth the purchase price alone. I was doubtful as to just how good the classic series would look on Bluray but after watching just a few episodes I will now be purchasing more of the classic as the upgrade is good..very very good.
